It is, absolutely inappropriate to tell a thin person “you could stand to gain a few pounds”.

You would never say that to someone in the reverse position. Unless I am dressed inappropriately (for, say, my job), please do not comment to me. Unless its a compliment. Those are always welcomed.

Yes! Thank you. I’ve been slender my entire life - I have an extremely fast metabolism, I’m very active, and I eat small meals throughout the day. And yet so many people think it’s okay to tell me I’m too skinny and I need to gain weight. Personally I think commenting on weight in general is crossing a line. How is it that saying “you’re so skinny!” is okay when saying “you’re so fat!” is completely unacceptable?
